Mendocino Weekend Getaway

This weekend, we planned an impromptu trip to the lovely Stanford Inn by the sea in Mendocino. It was a much needed break and I'll let the pictures tell the story :) We enjoyed vegan cuisine for the first time and relaxed in the rustic yet luxurious bed and breakfast overlooking the pacific ocean.

Glorious. Click here for the full album.

I realize that I'm behind on catching everyone up from last weekend so here's the quickie recap: Saturday, we hung out with new friends for happy hour and then caught the San Francisco Ballet's premier of The Little Mermaid. On Sunday, we walked around SoMa and realized how much we love North Beach and could be quite content living, going to school and working within a 2 mile radius indefinitely.

During the week, we attended Anna's preschool's annual Spring Gala at the Rancon center in South Beach.   Her classmates had been working on a Chinese folktale skit for which Anna was the narrator. She did an amazing job and was more comfortable behind a microphone than I could have imagined.

Spring Time

While we've had our fair share of sunny weather, San Francisco has seen a lot of rain this winter.  This is why we have definitely not taken for granted the past 3 sun-filled weekends!   That said, the state of California has faced some issues with drought so rain is clearly welcome in more ways than not - selfishly, it's mainly not welcome on our walk into the office/school :)

The sunny trend continued this weekend and we've pretty much reveled in the fact that we live in such a great area of the city.  There's plenty to see and explore and it's all within a reasonable walking radius.

Zane and Anna had their own little adventure on Saturday while I enjoyed an afternoon nap.  Today, we walked around Pier 39 and caught a very entertaining street show where, I am proud to say, I learned how to make a balloon dog!  You never know - I could make a fantastic carnival clown?  Ok, maybe not.  But Anna was impressed.

In other news from the week, Zane got miajavier.com up and running for me. He's been pushing me to start my own professional blog where I can centralized all my written content for work and otherwise.  I'm glad he's been supportive of this - particularly because my passion can sometimes claim a good majority of my time.

So, if you get a chance, check it out!  I haven't uploaded all my content yet but will do so in the coming week.  Meanwhile, enjoy the pics:

Anna and Z walk down Powell towards Union Square on Saturday...

Anna develops a very distinct style - very California if you ask me... ;)

Running off some pent up energy.

And refueling with a shake with Dad.

Sunday, the three of us spend the afternoon at Pier 39. We visited the sea lions, had some ice cream and...

enjoyed some very entertaining street shows :)

This week, we're hoping to find some time to catch parts of the Asian American Film Festival and I'm excited to catch up with my girlfriend, Rachel :)

Have a great week, everyone!

Another outstanding weekend in San Francisco

I'm letting the pictures tell the story this week :) (This is mainly because blogger crashed on me earlier and didn't save the 30 minutes worth of changes I made.)

The summary: We enjoyed amazing weather here in San Francisco. To take advantage, we took a trip down Hwy one, stopping along many scenic side trips and ending our trip down in Pescadero where we enjoyed a delicious lunch at Duarte's Tavern.

Today, we enjoyed an amazing day at Golden Gate Park where we took in the beauty and ridiculous amounts of activities to enjoy in this gem within the city.
